IGANGA
Lira City Assistant Resident City Commissioner (RDC), Karim Mwase, was found dead on Sunday evening after being attacked by unknown assailants along the Iganga-Bugiri highway.
According to preliminary reports, Mwase was returning from a public function in Bugweri District when he was intercepted by the attackers. Iganga Deputy RDC Dauda Kato said the assailants reportedly blocked Mwase’s vehicle, strangled him, and left his body inside the car before fleeing the scene.
Police have launched investigations into the incident in an effort to identify and apprehend the suspects. The body has been taken to Iganga General Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Authorities have yet to establish the motive behind the attack.
