Ugandan Rapper Walukagga Shafik, known by his stage name as Fik Fameica, alias Fresh Bwoy has exploded to the state security for enslaving the National Unity Platform president, Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert under house arrest.
In a tweet hashtagged Free Bobi Wine #FreeBobiWine, the Rapper calls for justice of the former presidential candidate who is being kept under house arrest since January 14.
Fik Fameica is one of the prominent artists in Uganda who publicly joined singer Bobi Wine’s NUP / People Power political group. He has for many times through his social media platforms criticized “illegal” acts against Bobi Wine’s freedom.
Fik Fameica’s remarks follows threats by a section of the youths and other activists who threatened to walk to Magere on Friday January22, to give food relief to their president in a campaign dubbed; “Magere Ku Bigere” literally meaning, “A Walk to Magere.”
On January 14, police sieged Kyagulanyi’s home and put him, his wife Barbie Itungo and the members of his house under house arrest immediately after casting his vote.
Military has since kept at his home denying people from accessing the place including Kyagulanyi’s personal lawyers, NUP members, journalists and recently the US envoys.
This has attracted debates from international and local human rights bodies demanding for his freedom but police through the force’s spokesperson, CP Fred Enanga dismissed reports that Kyagulanyi is under house arrest.
Enanga says the military siege at Magere is meant to restrain Kyagulanyi from movements likely to cause political unrests in the country.
YesterdayKyagulanyi’s lawyers led by Counsel Medard Ssegona were allowed access to their client. After a long discussion, lawyers petitioned the high court against their client’s illegal detention under house arrest.
High Court Judge, Justice Michael Elubu set Monday 25 January, as the dates to hear the petition.
