The Ministry of ICT and National Guidance has announced the 3rd edition of the National ICT Job Fair, set to take place from November 2st to 22nd at the National ICT Innovation Hub in Nakawa, Kampala. This year’s theme, “Shaping Uganda’s Digital Future: Bridging Skills, Innovation, and Opportunity,” reflects the event’s focus on preparing Uganda’s workforce for the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
The National ICT Job Fair is a premier event aimed at connecting young professionals, students, and job seekers with leading employers and industry experts. Attendees will have access to a variety of workshops, career panels, networking opportunities, and hands-on interactive labs.
Supported by Huawei Technologies Uganda, this event is aimed at a comprehensive line-up of activities, including company booths, resume reviews, and professional development talks. According to Dr. Aminah Zawedde, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, digital skills are central to Uganda’s economic growth, job creation, and improved access to essential services.
Minister for ICT and National Guidance, Hon. Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, highlighted the significant role of the ICT sector in reducing unemployment and fostering economic growth. He emphasized the government’s efforts in creating a conducive environment for ICT development through investments in infrastructure and initiatives like the National ICT Initiatives Support Programme (NIISP).
Baryomunsi said that the two-day event will feature career panels,discussions on emerging trends, career paths,essential skills, workshops and seminars, covering interview strategies, personal branding, and technical skills such as cybersecurity and coding.
In addition,there will be mock interviews and resume reviews, real-time feedback for job seekers, networking sessions, opportunities to connect with top employers and industry experts while Interactive labs and demonstrations, hands-on experiences in coding, virtual reality, and ICT innovation among others.
The National ICT Job Fair aims to equip Uganda’s youth with the necessary skills, resources, and connections to thrive in the digital economy, addressing the changing demands of the global job market.
