The diocese of Muhabura has projected to spend over 130 million Ugandan shillings on renovating the Bishop’s house as they prepare to welcome a new Bishop. The house is formerly the residence of the outgoing Bishop the Rt Rev Cranmer Mugisha.
Our reporter had a discussion with one of the church elders who revealed this as he inspected to assess the mood at the diocese as Christians wait for the election of a new Bishop after the two nominated names were ignored by the house of Bishops sitting at the Lweza conference on 17th January.
However, parrots found that most programs at the diocese are proceeding normally; some offices were open while projects like construction of the new cathedral and renovation of the Bishop’s home were also on going successfully.
The renovations at Muhabura diocese started in December last year and are expected to be complete by February this year to prepare a new environment for the new Bishop.
Meanwhile, the clergy and Christians had mixed reactions over the postponement for the election of a new Bishop for the diocese.
Some expressed gratitude saying that the proposed names were not nominated at the will of the many while those who expressed sadness say that all they want is a new Bishop.
