“Government is playing it’s gimmicks with different political groups to divert people especially the elites with the 2026 election propagandas than focusing on the current economic crisis. Muhoozi project is hoodwinking the people.” Dr. Kizza Besigye
Besigye made the remarks at the People’s Front for Transition (PFT) press briefing at FDC Headquarters in Najjanankumbi Kampala today.
Besigye who is also the national Chairman of the popular The Front Red Card (PFT) urged Ugandans to desist from such political hoodwinks by the government.
“We call upon the people to forget about all this nonsense and focus on how we can get out of this crisis to survive as the people,” he added.
He accused Gen. Muhoozi conduct regarding his security comments on social media likely to cause political insurgencies to the country.
Muhoozi recently tweeted that the M23 rebels are not terrorists but fighting for the rights of the Tutsi in DRC and therefore nobody should fight against them. He also previously threatened to attack Kenya in a course of one week but this was immediately silenced when his father, the Commander in Chief apologized to Kenyan government on his behalf.
According to Besigye, it is unlawful for the Ugandan army being used in taking sides fighting for one ethnic group against the others in another country especially at a time when East African Community states are sending joint troops to fight against rebels in Congo.
The four times presidential candidate has tasked parliament to hold accountable the minister of defence Vincent Bamulangaki Ssempijja on Ugandan troops deployed in DRC and other foreign countries.
This follows recent protests by the Congolese protestors accusing Ugandan forces of aiding the M23 rebel group that is terrorizing Eastern parts of DRC.
However, the defence spokesperson Brig Gen Felix Kulaigye has since lashed the accusations as malicious allegations stating that Ugandan army and FARDC (Congolese army) are working together to ensure peace and stability in Eastern DRC.
