President Yoweri Museveni has endorsed a proposal by Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny Dollo of recruiting at least one chief magistrate at all the 146 districts in Uganda and a Grade One Magistrate at every constituency.
The President wad presiding over the launch of new law year2021in Kampala, President Museveni on Saturday February six where he expressed government readiness to pay the magistrates in order to have enough judicial officers in the delivery of justice.
Museveni said total number of 2000 magistrate coordinated by one chief magistrate at every district is feasible and government will see that the proposal is put into vacation.
He urged the judiciary to ensure effective justice delivery to Ugandans now that government has been able to work on their retirement plan.
Despite the challenges that the country is facing, pledged to sitting with government to find solutions for some of the problems that the judiciary is facing including having vehicles among others.
Lawyers have always attacked parliament for giving money to buy carsvehicles while judicial officers don’t have car.
