President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has mourned Veteran Journalist, Playwright and Statesman Francis Rwot Odida who died at the age 82.
In a an eulogy read to him by Jacob Oulanyah, the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Museveni hailed Odida for his nationalism character.
The president said that he recognized Mzee Francis Odida in 1986, at once created avenues of benefiting from his wisdom, sense of duty and national character.
Oulanya also described the deceased as an industrious, selfless and kind person who loved to bring out the best in people.
Odida breathed his on Monday September 15, in Kampala while he was being rushed to Nakaseero Hospital from Lira Regional referral hospital. He was a known patient of high blood pressure.
His body arrived at Mowoko Royal Palace and was laid to rest at his ancestral home in Rackoko, Palabek in Pader district.
He is reknown for his journalistic roles, statesmanship and his Non-profit Organization ABC Children’s Aid which extends aid to vulnerable and orphaned children in Pader and Wakiso districts.
He was also the Clan Chief of the Palabek people living in the diaspora.
Odida is survived with a widow and 5 children.
