Parrots UG|Rwampara. Fredrick Byanyima, the Mwizi Health Centre III hospital in charge was on Thursday arrested by police and held for questioning over lack of accountability for the government property worth She 7.3m.
Byanyima was arrested on the orders of the Mbarara Resident District commissioner (RDC), Emmy Kateera Turyabagyenyi during a supervision of the health facilities in Mwizi sub county, Rwampara district.
Kateera’s supervision follows an internal auditor report of October which revealed that some of hospital equipment at Mwizi health centre III was never accounted for.
He revealed that items such as 6 hospital beds and their mattresses valued at 7.3 million were not accounted for.

According to him, the hospital in charge failed to give a proper accountability for the missing equipments despitef several attempts to task him.
This prompted authorities to take actions and arrested him for thorough questionings.
He said that the suspect will be charged with the abuse of office and warned civil servants in the district against personalizing and mismanaging government property after it has been put in their custody.
