New details have emerged on the death of Kirungi Kadiri, the LCV chairman for Hoima district and his bodyguard who died in an accident last night.
The fatal accident happened yesterday (Friday 17th March, 2023) at around 10PM at Mataagi village, Bukomero Town council along Kampala – Hoima highway in Kiboga District.
ASP Faridah Nampiima, spokesperson Traffic and Road Safety Directorate said in a statement issued on Saturday that the accident involved motor vehicle registration number UAH 053Q (Prado Land Cruiser) and UBB 059Z (Fuso fighter).
According to Nampiima, the accident happened when a Fuso truck driver (identity unknown) travelling from Kampala to Kiboga side tried to dodge a pothole at Mataagi bridge but lost control and the vehicle swerved off from it’s Lane on to it’s right hand side where he had a Headon collision with vehicle UAH 053Q which was heading to Kampala side from Hoima.
Hoima District Boss Dies In Nasty Accident
Two occupants of the Land Cruiser Vehicle who were later identified as Kirungi Kadiri, driver and also the Chairman LC5 Hoima District and his escort Police Constable Otim Bosco died on spot.
Territorial police from Kiboga visited the scene of the accident and the bodies of the deceased were conveyed to Kiboga hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.
