The National Unity Platform Party has called upon its members willing to contest for Dokolo district Woman MP seat in the forthcoming by-election to submit applications for expression of interest.
Mercy Walukamba, the party Electoral Commission Management chairperson said expression of interest will commence on Friday 16th February, 2024 at 9am and close on Wednesday 21st February, 2024 at midday.
She added that only NUP members who are qualified will carry the Party flag for the position of Dokolo District Woman MP.
Yesterday, the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) reported it had endorsed Dr. Alwoc RoseMary Ogwal, daughter to late Cecilia Ogwal as their flag bearer. Other parties such as UPC, NRM, DP are yet to unveil their candidates.
Dokolo district Woman MP seat fell vacant on January 18 following the death of the former MP Cecilia Atim Ogwal.
The electoral commission last week announced dates for the by-election. According to the released roadmap, the EC will nominate candidates starting from 11 to 12 March, 2024, while campaigns will run between 13th March and 19th March, 2024.
Polling for Dokolo district Woman MP by-election will take place on Thursday 21st March, 2024.
