KISORO

Residents in the Virunga areas can now enjoy improved water supply, following an innovative approach by the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) to extend access to safe water to drought affected areas of Kisorilo.

According to Ariho Peter, the Manager of NWSC Kisoro, the new approach is aimed at bolstering water supply in the Nyarusiza, Muramba, Chahi, Nyakinama sub-counties, and various sections of Kisoro Municipality.

Since its implementation, there has been a notable improvement in water distribution, with water being pumped to all areas under the jurisdiction of the national water authority on a daily basis. This approach marks a departure from previous practices wherein water distribution was carried out in a phased manner, targeting different areas sequentially.

In a statement to our reporter, Ariho appealed to consumers to exercise restraint when opening water taps to ensure that the water pressure remains consistent for all users, preventing any disruption in supply. He urged residents to work together to conserve water, reminding them that it is a precious resource that should be used judiciously.

The NWSC manager’s message was well received by residents of the areas concerned, who expressed their gratitude for the improved water supply. Many said that they no longer had to worry about shortages and were happy that they can now access clean, safe water whenever they needed it.

The NWSC has assured residents that it remains committed to providing high-quality water services to the people of Uganda. This latest approach is just one of many initiatives that the corporation has implemented in recent years to enhance water supply, and is a testament to the NWSC’s continued efforts to improve the lives of Ugandans.
