Kanungu police have made an arrest in the murder by assault of a 21-year-old casual labourer.
Igni was arrested on Wednesday 17th April, 2024, after the victim revealed people who assaulted him before his death.
ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson confirmed Igni’s arrest and they are still hunting for two others namely Kenneth and Brown.
The trio allegedly assaulted Simpson Ampaire, a resident of Bugongo Cell, Nyakatunguru ward, Kihiihi town council in Kanungu district on April 15.
One of the suspects, Kenneth later informed the victim’s sister who he told that her brother was lying unconscious on the roadside.
“on reaching there, she found him lying on the floor in the house of Kenneth.
he was carried to the house of the sister until on the 17/4/2024 at 08:00hrs when he passed on,” Police reported.
Police visited the scene and made some arrest and the suspect was taken to Kihihi police station and a postmortem was done. The body had a bruise on the head and the right arm.
