Police has gravely condemned the misconduct by Arianga South member of parliament, Alioni Yorke Odria (NRM) for assaulting one of their own.
Last week on Thursday while parliament was on polls to elect representatives to the East African Legislative Assembly – EALA, the highly charged Alioni attacked and punched in the ear the parliamentary police Officer in Charge, ASP Ssenge Alex accusing him of alleged vote rigging.
The police Spokesperson SCP Fred Enanga says the force condemn the act and condoned professionalism exhibited by the officer not to fireback.
Enanga was speaking at the weekly joint security briefing at police headquarters in Naguru, Kampala on Monday. He revealed that the MP has been summoned to police CID in Kibuli to answer questions on alleged assault.
According to a summon letter which Parrots Media seen, Hon. Alioni is expected to report to the CID tomorrow, Tuesday 4th October, 2022 at 10am.
“I have been instructed by the IGP Okoth Martins Ochola to write to you on the above subject. Arion is hereby summoned to come to CID Head Quarters on 4th next week, in relation to boxing of a police officer recently,” said AIGP Tom Magambo Director for Criminal Investigations.
It should be recalled that when the speaker of parliament was giving her remarks after the declaration of elected EALA MPs, she raised an accusing finger against the legislator stating that she will not preside over a house full of hooligans.
