Police force vows to tighten security at NAM/G77 China Summit

The Uganda Police spokesperson, SCP Enanga Fred has said that the force is already on the ground ready to provide safety and security at the NAM/G77+China Summit that's due on Monday 15th January, 2024, up to 23 January, 2024, at Speke Resort Munyonyo.

The Uganda Police spokesperson, SCP Enanga Fred has said that the force is already on the ground ready to provide safety and security at the NAM/G77+China Summit that’s due on Monday 15th January, 2024, up to 23 January, 2024, at Speke Resort Munyonyo.

Over 4000 foreign and local delegates from at least 135 countries are expected to attend and these include representatives of Government, International Agencies/Organisations and Heads of states. Countries like China, India, Nigeria, Brazil, Tanzania, Kenya, Sudan, Ethiopia, Iran, Algeria, Morocco and many others are involved.

Enanga said the police working closely with other sister security organs have put in place a comprehensive security arrangement such as Airport security, management of convoys, marine security, security at venues and hostels, first aid and quick medical response, close protection, public order management, among others to ensure safe and secure at the conferences

“The security team has improved and tightened its security around Kampala with highly visible and non-visible manpower, overt and covert officers to purposely detect any range of criminal activity and there is over see to the CCTV monitoring and communication centres.”Enanga says.

In addition to the search and screening of technology, police spokesperson said patrollers and specialist response teams have been allocated to remain effective and appropriate and would like the delegates and the public to cooperate and interact with the security teams in order to obtain security and a good relationship.

He appealed to Ugandans to remain to corporate with security and give out information incase of anything that doesn’t seem unusual.
