The Police at Buyanja in Rukungiri district are hunting for unknown assailants who attacked and killed a resident on Friday night.
The incident happened at Kashanga lower cell, Rubanga parish, Buyanja subcounty, Rukungiri district.
Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, told our reporter that during the Night of 8 March, 2024 at about 19:30hrs at Omukatatojo cell, the deceased, Rusiano Kashumbusha left fellow mourners at a burial ceremony of Tumwebaze for Kagarama trading centre, before heading to his home.
On his way to home, it is alleged that he was attacked by unknown people who murdered him.
His body was discovered the next morning (March 9) at 07:30hrs by Gerald Ahereza along a footpath to the farm of one of the residents identified as Rubogo, he immediately informed authorities about the incident.
“A case of murder was registered, scene of crime visited, examined and documented and his
body was conveyed to Rwakabengo health center III mortuary for postmortem,” Maate said.
Police asked anybody with information pertaining to the same that can lead police to apprehend the assailants can volunteer it so that they are brought to book as investigations into the matter goes on.
