Police names victims of Kamwokya inferno.

Police in Kampala have identified the two persons who died in Kamwokya inferno last night.

Last night, at around 7PM in the  evening fire blazed Kyamuka Kifumbira Zone  Kamwokya along the Northern By pass, destroying a number of properties including houses.

It is reported that the fire started from one one of the houses in the corridor of Namanve-Kampala North 123kV transmission line, causing the transmission wire to break and fall fatally wounding 2 people in Kyamuka Kifumbira slum, along the Northern By pass Kamwokya.

Police has named the deceased as Steven Okwale,29 a male adult resident of Mirimu Zone in Bukoto and Caroline Amai, a female resident of Kifumbira zone.

Police fire brigade arrived at the scene and helped to fire to extinguish the fire.

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy police spokesperson for Kampala metropolitan police has told Parrots UG that police has seized the scene to stop people from accessing it due to the still hanging electric transmission wires that may cause further harm.

A number of properties including houses, merchandise and many injuries have been registered but Owoyesigyire says a full report will be released soon after the investigations are completed.
