Police have confirmed that they have recovered an Ambulance vehicle that was recently stolen by unknown thugs at United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) offices in Arua District, West Nile region.
Last week, a gang of thieves broke into UNHCR offices in Arua and vandalized the CCTV cameras before they could go ahead to steal two high value land cruiser vehicles; double cabin pick up registration number UBE 496B and UBK 403N which has been used as an ambulance. The thugs also vandalized a third motor vehicle they found in the parking.
According to the police spokesperson, Fred Enanga, police tracked down the vehicles and it was later established that they where they were impounded and towed Aruu police station in DRC.
He further disclosed that a search for two Saracen security guards who had been deployed at the UNHCR offices on the night of the incident is ongoing. The duo allegedly abandoned their guns and disappeared from the scene after the incident.
The UNHCR incident follow similar incident where an Ambulance, a Toyota Land Cruiser registration number UG6812M belonging to Arua referral hospital was stolen and reportedly sold to DRC in March, this year.
Five suspects including a Dental Assistant, a security guard at the hospital, a driver of the Hospital, a driver attached to the Office of the Prime Minister and another person have since been arrested and admitted to selling the vehicle to DRC.
