Uganda national metiological authority has warned that most parts of the country are likely to experience very dry weather conditions, However parts of western and central Uganda are expected to receive occasional rainfall.
This was revealed on 4th January by Mr. David W Elweru the Uganda National Metiological authority executive director in his January -Febuary weather forecast report.
Mr. Elweru noted that January -Febuary period constitutes the major dry season country wide, which is characterized by warmer day temperature values and hazy conditions.
Mr. Elweru said that during this forecast period, sunny and dry weather conditions are expected to prevail over most parts of the country that include Northern, Eastern and Karamoja region.
However, a few parts of south western Uganda extending to central and Mt.Elgon region are likely to receive occasional rainfall.
In this January weather forecast,UNMA also noted some potential impacts of this forecast and they include;fog and hazy conditions increased respiratory and eye disease due to dusty windy conditions, reduction in animal pastures among others.
The Uganda national metiological authority advised motorists to drive with caution whenever fog and hazy conditions prevail. They also advised Ugandans to avoid bush burning to preserve ecosystems.
UNMA also advised communities around wild life conservation areas to be on watch as they expect the human- wildlife conflicts as animals escape in search of pastures and water.
