The Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) has appealed to the government and members of the public to extend relief support to Muslims during the holy month of Ramadan.
Millions of muslims throughout the world are expected to observe the holy month of Ramadan starting from Thursday 23rd March, 2023 refraining from food and drinks everyday for 30days.
UPC however notes likelihood that fasting may be challenging especially at a time when prices for key food input needed for fasting are so high making it difficult for some Muslim communities to afford meals on a daily basis.
“UPC calls upon government, God-fearing and able people from all walks of life to come in support of our Muslim brothers and sisters to fast …. Let’s share the little we have with one another,” urges party spokesperson, Sharon Oyat Arach
Arach was speaking to journalists at the UPC headquarters, Uganda House Kampala on Wednesday.
She wished Ramadan Mubarak to all Muslims and called for total submission to Allah during this fasting season.
