Less than a month after the Uganda-Rwanda Katuna/Gatuna border has been reopened, there still seem to be continued loss of human life between either states.
Latest on our East African Community Reports desk indicate that a Rwandan National and teenage herdsman has been killed in Kisoro District Western Region of Uganda.
The Kigezi region police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate has identified the deceased as Ndagijwenawe Alias Kashopingi, 14, a Rwandan national a porter and resident of Gishita cell Gasovu parish Nyarusiza sub county in Kisoro district.
The incident on Thursday at around 1900hrs when the deceased was grazing cattle in his master’s land a one Safari Martin and another herdsman drove his cows to same land something that erupted disagreements between the duo.
According to Maate, the suspect Enock Mucwamanza of the same area became so emotional and out angered Enock hit the deceased twice on the side head using a stick which made him unconscious.
Kashopingi was rushed to Nyarusiza Health Center III for treatment and later discharged. However, the next day on Friday, the victim’s health deteriorated and was rushed to Kisoro hospital where he breathed his last.
Police arrived at the scene of the crime on the notice of the deceased master, scene was documented and post mortem conducted to help in investigations.
Maate told reports that the suspect is on run and means to have him arrested and charged are underways.
The case of murder by assault was registered at Kisoro Central Police Station ref CRB 150/2022, pending deportation of the body to Rwanda for burial.
