The joint security agencies have combined forces in Mubende and Kasanda district to enforce the presidential directives that were announced on Saturday night.
On Saturday night, President Museveni announced a lockdown to the districts of Mubende and Kasanda due to out break of Ebola in those districts.
While announcing the nation president Museveni said the lockdown was intended to stop the spread of Ebola to other districts and so he announced the lockdown for 21 days, closed season markets, prohibited public and private transport, closed bars and gyms in those districts among others.
The police spokesperson, Fred Enanga while addressing the press confirmed to the public that the joint security agencies responded to the directive very first and deployed multiple task teams to enforce these directives.
“So far we have managed to restrict movements into and outside the two districts, enforcing curfew hours but we had some challenges at first where people were not aware of the directives but now we have informed them and now they are aware,” Enanga said.
The president still in his address prohibited movement of motorcyclists in the two districts but according to Enanga, a few riders. especially in Bukuye wanted to violate this director and they even wanted to protest.
“We intend to punish those people who intend to violate these directives with arrests and for sure we started carrying out some arrests and also giving penalties to offenders. We have 222 motorcycles and 28 cars from the two districts,” Enanga added.
Furthermore, the police appealed to public and also informed them that whatever the government is doing is for the good of the nation to stop the spread of Ebola.
