Police in Sheema district are investigating a case inwhich a vulnerable elderly woman was attacked by yet to identify panga squad attackers leaving her with body cut injuries.
The victim identified as Jane Kilabi, 65, is a resident of Rutooma village Kyamurari ward Bugongi Town council in Sheema district.
According to Kirabo, an unidentified group of robbers armed with machetes on Monday night broke into his house and started beating her up and cutting some parts of her body. She says she missed the first panga that cut her mosquito net while they demanded for monies.
Kirabo who narrowly survived being killed narrated to our reporter that she hardly squeezed one of the attacker’s balls while she made alarms that attracted the neighbours.
Eye witnesses who came to Kirabo’s rescue said the attackers took off immediately they learned of the residents who had started surrounding Kirabo’s home.
Kirabo sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Hope Medical centre Bugongi where she’s received first aid treatment. However, Parrots UG learned that she has been advised to be transferred to either Kampala International University teaching hospital or Kitagata Health Centre IV for further treatments.
The Bugongi police post Officer in charge Joseph Muhindo has condemned an attack on such a vulnerable woman noting that police have already commenced on investigations underwhich and the suspects will be brought to book once they are arrested.
