Since Thursday Ssempala has had a hard time and grown emotional after he found his name missing on the list which was released.

Political virgin Dr. David Sserukenya is giving sleepless nights to Hon. Emmanuel Ssempala Kigozi aka Sajalyabene after National Unit Platform (NUP) vetting committee failed to decide on the suitable candidate to bear party’s flag for Makindye Ssabagabo in the 2021 election.

In a list seen by Parrotsug for all nominated NUP flagbearers from the central region, Makindye Ssabagabo was left for reevaluation in a race between incumbent Sempala and Serukenya.

Credible sources from Kamwokya based People Power centre reported that there’s a growing tention among the members of the vetting committee and the NUP board on who to nominate.

Reports further revealed discontents among the officials with a strong bias against Ssempala’s   understanding of party values and commitment after he defected his own Democratic Party (DP) for NUP. These claim he is an opportunist using the platform to acquire his political interests.

Those nearing him (Ssempala) said he is spending sleepless nights due to much pressure amounted on him by Dr. David Sserukenya his long adversary  whom he has severally referred to as a ‘political manable.’

There is an intense conflict between Ssempala and Sserukenya which has not only created divisions in NUP but also left Ssabagabo residents split into two camps.

Another anonymous source said even though they go into primaries, Sserukenya would have an upper hand because of his charisma and what he defined as “Omutima Omugabi” on the ground.

Since Thursday Ssempala has had a hard time and grown emotional after he found his name missing on the list which was released.

Mercy Walukamba, the NUP EC boss told reports that vetting in hotly contested areas didn’t have flagbearer names because there is still a need to make tight decisions since all candidates seem strong. She added that lists of other regions will be released on aninterval.

By publication time, a reevaluation for Makindye Ssabagabo, Kawempe Rubaga North and other areas awaited release. But Parrotsug learned that Sserukenya camp is laughing under their armpits while his counterpart Hon. Sempala’s heart still pump more than the 72times normal.

When not nominated, the DP block – NUP ally will now either have to contest as independent or bear a crown of shame and return to his raised home – DP.
