A student in Iganga district has missed on his first Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education examination paper after he came late past the UNEB recommended time.
Jennifer Kalule Musamba, the UNEB principal public relations officer told journalists on Monday that the affected student missed European History exam which was done in the morning.
According to UNEB regulations, candidates are expected to be at examination centres 30 minutes to the start of an exam and at least less than 15 minutes after the examination has started.
The board has cautioned candidates against late coming to sit for exams to avoid being inconvenienced.
Relatedly, Kalule said that they registered four new cases of Special Need Education candidates in Mukono, Ntungamo and Kampala.
Three of these cases, Kalule said are candidates who got sudden paralysis in the hands and we’re unable to write exams on their own. They are one candidate from Kawempe Royal College (Kampala), Our while other two candidates were from Our Lady of Africa SS and Hilton High School, both in Mukono district.
“The fourth candidate was reported at Global High School in Ntungamo district who suddenly became so weak and couldn’t write anything for himself,” Kalule explained.
She noted that the board advised heads of centres to identify senior three students to aid in writing exams for the affected students because they were unable to send transcribers immediately.
Meanwhile, the board said unlike in the first and second series of this year’s National exams (UCE and PLE), there were no any cases of examination malpractice and leakage of examination materials on social media reported on day one of UACE.
The board however noted that some of their deployed officials namely scouts and invigilators were reportedly late on duty on the first day which caused delays in the examination exercise.
