Kati John Ssenfuma, 40, a teacher at a school in Mityana allegedly attempted to defile the victim who is also a student of the same school.
ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson said Ssenfuma was arrested after the victim’s guardian, 26, a resident of Kyebando Erisa Zone in Kawempe Division, Kampala District lodged a complaint to police about a teacher who was luring the juvenile into sexual chats on WhatsApp.
“Ms. Sheilah reported that the family became aware of his [the teacher] communication with the juvenile through WhatsApp, prompting his invitation to their premises. On January 13, 2024, he traveled to the designated venue and was subsequently apprehended upon arrival,” Owoyesigyire said.
He noted that the victim was subjected to an examination by a police surgeon which confirmed her well-being because the intended activity did not transpire
Owoyesigyire says the case file has been submitted to the office of the Resident State Attorney for guidance.
