There are some myths out there that people assume to be gospel about dating, especially among Christians. Today, Social media and mainstream media is showered with the news of which priest or Pastor is dating who? Media presents church dating as Anti Biblical. However, there are “Christian dating” ideas floating around that have little or nothing to do with the Biblical Teachings.

Barbrah Nahwera, 24yrs a 3rd year student of Kampala University (Luweero Campus) pursuing Bachelor of Mass Communication, is a living example of Christian Dating with h former University Chapel Choir Master.

When Babrah joined St. Peter’s Ayaka Chapel in 2017, her romantic emotions couldn’t be controlled against admiring  the then Chapel’s Choir Master a one Martin Turigye.

KU Anglican Community Chapel.

According to her, the Angelus vocalics of this chapel dude crazily pierced an arrow in her heart but all her emotions met anxieties without forgetting the world laws of nature which presents men as the exclusive initiators of relationships.

This prompted her attend choir practices on a regular basis so as she would stare at his crush to relieve the affections with hopes of heavens to open up its doors for her in vain. The anticipations, anxieties of dating a church member all flowing in her veins.

Babrah say at a certain point she nearly gave up on her feelings with a common religious thinking that may be God has that one man picked out for her to marry and waited for God to do the heavy lifting when it comes to dating a guy that God would guide her to be destined with.

A blessing in disguise was when Turigye got serious sickness, as a tradition, one of the chapel members had to go and check on him at his Hostel. Happy Nimusiima a prayful member was assigned the responsibility who later turned into an Archangel to Babrah.

“Retreating the sicknesses, Turigye my long time secret chapel crush asked Nimusiima; ‘Kwonka Babrah ariyo?’ (A Runyankole word used to inquire about someone you strongly miss).” Babrah narrates.

She further said when Nimusiima told her about the Choir Master’s inquiries, she ignored the the news although she inwardly felt loved back.

“On getting the news,I didn’t mind because nothing was like a big deal betwen us and life continued,” shesurprisd.

As Dietrich Bonhoeffer a Germany theologist once wrote in a wedding sermony written for his sister in Nazi Jail Cell: “God joins the relationship between a man and a woman at the point of marriage. Before that, the couple has to take the initiative.”  Turigye who had graduated at the same University in 2018 with a Degree in Agricuture & Community Development made his attempts to initiate a relationship with his former choir member, Babrah.

Here, he made frequent visits to the chapel with stead cat- claw motives.

“He couldn’t get out of church without buying me a sweet little did I know that he too was secretly in for me,”  Babrah smiled.

“Its no harm for a herdsman to feed on the milk of the cattles he grazes.” Agriculturalists say. Being an Agriculture & Community development professional, he (Turigye) embarked on developing romances with his own.

Its every Chic’s character to first pretend not having interests in a man’s proposal immediately. Babrah was no an exception that she first opposed Turigye’s plea giving him fake hard time.

What started as a glorification of the Lord’s name in choir turned into a frienship which later germinated into a date that is slowly but surely yielding into better fruits. Perhaps, its guided by the Spirit and are waiting for God to join them together in marriage as wrote Theologist Dietrich. None of the two can well tell WHO won whose heart? All they can recall is that 24thApril,2019 was a turning point to their relationship after agreeing to go on the first date at one of the biggest restaurants at the University.
When a Soul finds a Soul mate,
no one tells who wins whose heart
!
This year, the couple celebrates its Paper Anniversary ( 1yr of relationship) at a yet to disclose venue.

Information by anonymous insider has it that the young couple may go back to their ordinary restaurant to re profess their first date oaths. This source affirmed to The Parrots that the Turigye – Nahwers relationship is a reflection of the Biblical scriptures of; “What God has put together no one can separate,”. Nothing to wish them other than a blissful romantic anniversary and as to ring for them Health is life bells with reminders of if it is not on, it is not safe.
