At least three people have been arrested and detained in Kampala on allegations of kidnap of a 4 year kid while at his mother’s home.
The suspects are; Katongole Hakim, Mawanda James and Asiimwe Maria. They were arrested from Busabala B village, Makindye Division.
On August 2, the trio kidnapped Simon Ssenyonjo, 4yrs, from Wamala area in Nansana municipality Wakiso district at his mother’s home. He was playing outside when he was kidnapped.
The suspects who left behind the evidence had demanded for a ransom to a tune of Shs50 million from Mudiima Kityo, the father of the victim.
Police heard that Kityo could only raise Shs1m and deposited on the suspects’ phone number.
ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy spokesperson for Kampala metropolitan police has told Parrots UG police followed the matter using evidence left behind by the suspects. He added that the police flying squad tracked and arrested the three suspects from Busabala B village, Makindye Division, and rescued the victim.
“The Directorate of Crime Intelligence has rescued a four-year-old child Simon Ssenyonjo, who was kidnapped on the 2nd August 2021 from Wamala area in Nansana Municipality while at his mother’s workplace. He was playing outside when he was kidnapped.”
The trio are currently being detained at Central Police Station Kampala on charges of kidnap.
