Three people were on Saturday April 6 after a speeding Fuso truck knocked two children before ramming into a nearby building and killed the owner.
ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson says the truck registration number UNC786B white in colour which was loaded with cement and iron sheets from Rukungiri side to Kihihi developed mechanical injuries and the driver lost control which caused the accident.
The incident happened at Kakirago cell, Bugangari sub-county in Rukungiri district on Saturday at around 2pm. Two children namely Darius Ahimbisibwe, 5 and Sarah Ainembabazi 8, who were walking on the roadside were knocked down and killed.
The truck also rammed into a nearby building killing the owner, Kyoti Karwemera,60 on the spot. The deceased was sitting in the shed when the accident happened.
Maate said that the driver of the truck fled from the scene after the incident. The vehicle was towed to police for inspection while the bodies of the deceased were taken to Rwakabengo Health Center III for postmortem.
