Police in Kajjansi has arrested two suspects for allegedly stealing number plates on vehicles in areas around Kajjansi.
ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the spokesperson Kampala Metropolitan Police has identified the suspects as Sebigo Samuel, 31, a porter and resident of Kawotto cell Kitende ward Kajjansi town council in Wakiso Districr and Maseruka Misach, 27, a casual labourer and resident of Lweza B cell, Kawali.
They were arrested during a security operation following several complaints from residents on increasing theft of number plates.
Owoyesigyire added that after a tip off, police conducted an operation to crack down the suspects where the duo was netted. He says that members of this group are still at large and police hunt against them is ongoing.
Upon arrest, police conducted a search at the suspect’s residence and were able to recover fiver stolen number plates currently kept at Kajjansi as exhibits.
He confirmed that Sebigo and Maseruka are detained and will be arraigned to court as soon as the investigations are complete.
