The Food and Beverages Expo, bringing together manufactures, distributors and suppliers of Food and Beverages, across the East Africa regional bloc and beyond will showcase their products at Old Kampala Secondary School Playground from 29-31 August 2024.
The official Launch of the East Africa Food and Beverages Expo Road Map was revealed during a press conference, held at Pope Paul vi Memorial Hotel in Kampala on Thursday.
Amb. Patrick Nsubuga, the organizer of the Expo, said the East Africa Food and Beverages Expo is not just a trade show; but a platform for innovation, collaboration and growth within the food and beverages industry.
“Our Expo aims to bring together stakeholders from across the region and beyond to showcase the latest products, technologies and trends shaping the future of the food and beverages sector”, he said.
Amb. Nsubuga said; as they launch their roadmap, they set forth their vision for the Expo, a vision that encompasses empowerment, sustainability, and excellence.
He said one of the core objectives of the Expo is to foster collaboration and partnership among industry players.
“By bringing together manufacturers, suppliers, distributors and other stakeholders, we create opportunities for networking, knowledge sharing and business development. Through strategic alliances and innovative solutions, we can address the challenges facing the industry and unlock new avenues for growth”, he said.
He told Journalists; one of their major challenges is the presence of counterfeit foods and beverages on the market and called on Governments in the region to crack down on counterfeits.
Mr. Edwin Kabuleta, Government Services and International Trade (GSIT) Manager, an International Food and Beverages Certification Company, said they provide training in certification standards to companies worldwide and have presence in 150 countries.
“GSIT provides training to Food and Beverages companies in testing, certification and inspection. We have presence in 150 countries, including Uganda and our Head office is in France”, he said.
The Press Conference was graced by local and regional Food and Beverages companies, to showcase some of their products. They included; STABEX International, dealers in cooking gas, BELLA soft drinks Company, BIDCO Cooking oil Company and wheat plus maize flour processing companies among others.
The Expo will run under the theme: “Elevating a Sustainable Food and Beverages Industry through empowering innovations and enabling transformation”.
