A total of one million, three hundred seventeen, seven hundred fifty six (1,317,756) candidates have so far registered for this year’s national examinations, UNEB reported.
According to the board, the Candidature includes candidates for Primary Leaving Examination (PLE), Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) for both new and old curriculum and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE).
Jennifer Kalule Musamba, the Principal Public Relations Officer of UNEB reported an increase of 7 percent; 93,385 candidates compared to 1,224,371 registered candidates for last year.
“Of these registered candidates, 798,188 have registered for PLE, 377,932 are for UCE examination for both old and new curriculum, and 141,640 are registered for UACE,” said Kalule.
“Of these, 9,840 have registered for the UACE transitional examination based on the old curriculum. 56 percent of the transitional candidates are so far females while 44 percent are males.”
UNEB noted that late registration of candidates in all categories is ongoing and will close on July 31, 2024, attracting a surcharge of 100 %.
