The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has announced an extension of the deadline for the submission of Continuous Assessment (CA) scores for the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE).
Jennifer N. Kalule-Musamba, Principal Public Relations Officer (PPRO), UNEB said the move aims to accommodate schools facing challenges in meeting the original deadlines.
According to Kalule, the new deadline for submitting CA scores for Senior Four candidates (UCE) under the New Lower Secondary Curriculum (NLSC) is now 30th October 2024. In addition, Senior Three learners under the same curriculum have until 15th November 2024 to submit their scores.
UNEB stresses that candidates must submit both coursework and project work for all subjects.
“Candidates without project work, and CA scores in any of the subjects offered shall not be graded,” said Kalule.
She noted that transitional UCE candidates are not required to submit CA scores.
UNEB has also granted a grace period for UACE (Senior Six) candidates, following the 30th September deadline. According to Kalule, the new deadline is 15th October 2024. However, she said that schools will incur a surcharge of 50,000 UGX per candidate during this grace period.
“Heads of schools must submit a formal letter of explanation for the delayed submissions to the UNEB Executive Director. CA scores must be submitted along with the letter and a CD of the candidates’ scores to the UNEB offices in Kyambogo,” UNEB said.
UNEB emphasizes that no submissions will be accepted after 15th October. Like UCE, UACE candidates without CA scores will not be graded.
Affected schools have been urged to comply with the new deadlines and make timely submissions.
