The StarTimes Uganda Premier League (UPL) clash between league contenders KCCA FC and Arua based Onduparaka FC failed to finish after violent fans invaded the pitch to protest Center Referee Ronald Madanda’s extra time penalty call.
At leveled scores 2-2, The center referee awarded the guests (KCCA) a penalty after forward Brian Aheebwa was fouled in the penalty area in the 90+ minutes.
The referee’s decision ignited the fans invasion into the pitch who were in protest of the controversial call made minutes after Ondus defender Jimmy Ndalambi was awarded with a red card.
Before the game was abandoned, Onduparaka got an early lead in the 11th minute through Rashid Okocha and three minutes later Usama Arafat utilised an assist from youngster Sadat Anaku to level the matters.
Okocha netted from outside the box after goalie Benjamin Ochan punched the ball to him.
In the 21st minute of play, the Kasasiro boys took the lead through Sadat Anaku who headed home a well delivered cross from Herbert Achai.
Minutes to the halftime break, KCCA’s Ashraf Mugume spoiled the party after he handled the ball in the penalty area and Mohammad Shaban sent Benjamin Ochan the opposite way to secure an equaliser for the caterpillars.
It was an entertaining and action filled first half as both teams paused a threat to the other.
The second half was characterised by a goal drought as both teams hardly had chances to hit the back of the net.
Sadat Anaku’s efforts flew high in the 75th minute to deny the visitors a winning goal.
Both teams currently await the FUFA ethics committee decided in regards to the fans invasion of game.
