Police in Kapchorwa district are investigating circumstances sorrounding the murder of a 40-year-old, Namawangala Stephen, by his wife.
Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson says the incident occured on October 9, 2023 when the victim without the wife’s knowledge took away her savings that was mean to pay school fees for the couples children to drink alcohol.
“The suspect on the 4.10.2023, withdrew her savings of Ugx 200,000=, from Kabati village savings group, to pay school fees for their children. Her husband removed the money, from where she had kept it, on the 8.10.2023 and spent it all on alcohol,” he said.
According to police, the husband had promised to refund the money on the next day, October 9 which he did not do.
At around 11pm on October 9, the duo developed a quarrel which led to a fight.
It is reported that during the scuffle, the victim identified as Juliet Chelangat, 43, a resident of Waror village, Tegeres subcounty in Kapchorwa pushed the victim to the ground making him unconscious.The victim died while being rushed to Kapchorwa hospital.
Police arrested the suspect (Chelangat) and she is being detained in custody for murder.
