Two children have died and one other on admission at Madindi General hospital after being allegedly poisoned by a stepmother.
The incident occurred at Labongo sub county in Masindi district on October 26.
According to reports, the suspect served the three stepchildren food laced with suspected poison.
They became unconscious and were rushed to Masindi General Hospital for medical attention where two were pronounced dead
Fred Enanga, police spokesperson on Monday said the suspect, Komuhendo Harriet, a stepmother was arrested and she’s under detention at CPS Madindi.
He identified the deceased as Katusiime Patience, 8 and Asobora James,5. The third victim, Kyosaba Mary, 3, is still receiving treatment at Masindi hospital but not in worrying conditions.
“The survivor is improving and out of danger, at Masindi hospital. We pray for her quick recovery,” Enanga said.
He condemned the act of brutality against innocent children by a mother who was supposed to nurture and provide for them.
The suspect is being charged with two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.
