Police in Bushenyi district have in detention a 40- year-old woman on allegations of murder.
The suspect is Stidia Kyosimiire, a resident of Nyakayonza village Kararo parish Kyeizooba sub county in Bushenyi district.
She allegedly cut her co wife a one Leonida Katushabe, 30 also a resident of the same village in the head and neck using a sharp panga.
Reports indicate that the duo have been involved in a love triangle with a Uganda People’s Defence Force soldier identified as William Nduhura who by the time of the fateful incident was on duty in Karamoja sub region.
According to residents, the suspect who is also the first wife to the husband blessed with a child grew jealousy to her co wife who is yet to conceive something that prompted her to do murder her gruesomely.
The Kararo parish LC2 Chairperson Godfrey Kazoora has condemned the act stressing that the perpetrator should be dealt with accordingly.
Speaking to our reporter, Allen Tushabe, the Kyeizooba sub county female councillor appealed to women to make use of her office reporting any matters regarding their marital lives for immediate assistance than committing crimes.
Victor Bakyikunde, the LC3 chairperson for Kyeizooba sub county blamed the incident on increased cases of domestic violence during this COVID-19 pandemic.
The case of murder was reported to Kyeizooba police station and detective police from Bushenyi central police station led by Benson Kivengere visited the scene of the crime to assess the situation.
The deceased body was taken to a hospital for a postmortem while the suspect is being held at CPS Bushenyi on charges of murder.
