A helpless expectant mother yesterday Sunday31st June,2020 gave birth to a healthy baby on a pavement at William street in Kampala after failing to get a possible Transport mean to hurry her to a nearby hospital.

A 26-years-old only identified as Joy, last evening found her maternity bed on the road side pavements where she got relieved of her labour pains.

According to onlookers who called Central Police Station Kampala police, heavily and tiresome looking Joy squatted on pavements at William Street only to notice she was delivering.

A police 999 patroller led by Ivan Nduhura, OC Operations CPS, came at the place fortunately found when she had safely given birth. They further rushed to her to Mulago hospital for more Postnatal care.

Police confirmed the news and stated that both the mother and the baby are in good conditions.

“Our 999 patrollers have today evening taken to Mulago referral hospital a woman, who gave birth on a pavement at William street. Both the mother and  a baby are in good conditions.” KMP police confirmed.

Police further commanded the officers for quick responses and applauded the public for timely alerts.
