Police in Sheema district are investigating the suspected strangulation murder of a 55-year-old man.
The greater Bushenyi region police spokesperson ASP Martial Tumusiime has identified the deceased as Joseph Mwerwaneho alias kikwine, a resident of katwe cell kyabandaala ward Sheema central division in Sheema district.
According to Maryial, on Tuesday night, an unknown group of people broke into the deceased home who was staying alone and strangled him to death.
Eye witnesses say the body of Mwerwaneho was discovered on the morning of Thursday at around 8am by his friend, Jolly Twinomugisha and her daughter who had gone came to pick her clothes at Mwerwaneho’ s home.
The woman became suspicious after she found the door locked from inside yet a widow was open. She peeped through the window and saw Mwerwaneho lying on the bed prompting her to alert the neigbours who found him lying lifeless with a rope beside him
Tumusiime says, the deceased’s body had marks around the neck suspecting that he was strangled. He noted that the body was taken to Kabwohe health centre IV for a postmortem.
In addition, police made arrests of some unidentified suspects to help in investigations after a sniffer dog led police to the them.
