The police in Rukungiri district were on Sunday still holding one suspect in connection with the grisly murder of his father, who was hacked to death and his body locked in a kitchen.
Lenato Atukwatse also known as Ronald, 33, a resident of Karuhara village, Ndago parish, Nyarushanje subcounty in Rukungiri district allegedly murdered his father Byebiroha Nesiforo, 61 on Saturday night at around 5pm.
Byebiroha’s body was found locked up in the kitchen, lying in a pool of blood with injuries on his body.
The incident happened when the deceased wife, Beatrice Kitaragambirwe had gone for night prayers at Nyarushanje catholic parish and to her disappointment when she returned home the next morning, she found her husband lifeless.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson said that the suspect accessed his parents’house at will and after the stressful act, he went into hiding but, police managed to trace and apprehend him.
Maate condemned the act and warned residents against taking laws in their hands.
