Renowned city business & education consultant Ambrose Byamugisha alias Ambrosoli has become the first candidate to express interests for NRM flagbearer in the 2020/21 elections.
Byamugisha has today Thursday July30th in companion of his wife Ms Doreen Tumuhairwe and his supporters picked nomination forms from the NRM offices in Kyadondo to contest for the position of Member of Parliament for Ruhinda south county in Mitooma District. The seat is currently occupied by Capt Hon Mugabe Dononzio Kahonda, who is also an NRM member.
Byamugisha hopes to ride on the fame he has gained from his Ambrosoli Consult Uganda Ltd, an organisation that has for a donkey’s years organized personal funded workshops in Mitooma district on financial literacy, women and youth entrepreneurship, household poverty eradications, health and schools career guidance.
He is also the voice that was behind double defeat of Gen Otafiire in the 2015/16 presidential and parliamentary elections by the then imprisoned Capt Dononzio Kahonda.

He was among the chief campaigning team of Captain Kahonda whom they have parted ways on grounds that the incumbent didn’t serve as per the manifesto including failure to harmonise voters which has crippled development in district as most of the precious time has been wasted in endless political conflicts.
Byamugisha who looked disappointed pledged to reunite the people of Ruhinda as well as gaining its lost socioeconomic and political glory of Mitooma district as a whole.
It is understood that since the previous elections Mitooma district was faced with several tensions based on political grounds among other things which left the district Chairman elect LCV Benon Karyaija censured by sections of councillors, the district has for nearly three years run without a people elect chairperson. This is believed to have delayed completion of certain gov’t programmes in the district.
At some extent, the incumbent has been involved in cold fights against resident minister Maj Gen Kahinda Otafiire with each attacking the other for calling some of the ongoing government projects his. This didn’t not only create political tensions among local leaders but also affected the already projected developments.
In an intense interview with our reporter, Byamugisha described the NRM government as a Vineyard with many harvests but some areas lack the young energetic and committed labourers to ensure government programmes reach to the targeted beneficiaries.

He adds that his service shall be a pro people with focus on improving youth & women livelihoods, lobbying projects for the PWDs, elderly and widows who are the less privileged groups, equal opportunities in resource distribution, improving household income and other social services such as healthcare, maternal health, education, access to safe water and electricity in many “neglected” villages.
Ruhinda South County is among the 46 new constituencies which were approved by Parliament earlier today. It has been created out of Ruhinda county. It comprises of sub counties such as; Rurehe, Kabira, Mayanga, Kabira Town Council, Mutara, Nyakizinga and Mutara Town Council.
Byamugisha is joining race with people who have so far expressed interests for the same seat including Incumbent Hon. Kahonda (NRM), Kahemba Babi (ANT), among others.
