A devastating road accident on thursday afternoon in Muhokya Town, along the Kasese–Mbarara highway left the local community reeling after two lives were lost and several others critically injured.
The fatal collision involved a white Toyota Hiace (registration number UBS 891C) and a white Mitsubishi Pajero (registration number UAV 674Q). According to Kasese Central Police, preliminary investigations suggest that the Pajero was attempting to overtake when it collided head-on with the oncoming van, a reckless maneuver believed to have caused the deadly impact.
The deceased have been identified as David Remegious Mbusa, an employee of Centenary Bank, Mbarara main Branch, and Mathias Maate, a passenger in the same vehicle. Multiple passengers sustained serious injuries and were rushed to medical facilities within Kasese Municipality for emergency treatment.

Authorities have confirmed that the late David Mbusa was a brother to Msgr. Landaus Bwambale, the Vicar General of the Diocese of Kasese, adding a deeply personal dimension to the tragedy that has shaken both the banking and religious communities.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, urging motorists to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent further loss of life.
