A police officer attached to Field Force Unit (FFU) at Elegu Police Station died on Tuesday after falling off a speeding police patrol vehicle.
The 7pm accident happened at Labong-ogali trading Centre along Awer-Amuru district headquarters road in Amuru Sub County.
The deceased has been identified as Police Constable (PC) Emmanuel Walubengo.
According to David Ongom Mudongo, the Aswa region police spokesperson the driver of the patrol vehicle registration number UP 5769 Constable David Ocheng lost control after hitting a pothole and as he tried to dodge the pothole PC Walubengo fell off and died on the spot.
His body was taken to St Mary’s hospital Lacor pending postmortem.
Mudong says that Amuru traffic police visited the scene of the accident and investigations are ongoing.
A case was registered at Amuru central police station under file no: TAR 39/201 Single Serious.
