Richard Byarunga, the Mayor of Bushenyi-Ishaka municipality, has threatened to cause harm to individual and citizen journalists spreading info that he is a drunkard following his recent fatal accident in Nyamushekyera.
On December 18, 2020, reports circulated on social and mainstream media indicating how the Mayor had narrowly survived death after a newly donated car inwhich he was travelling cashed and stopped in a swamp along Nyamushekyera road in Ishaka-Bushenyi municipality.
Some social media users immediately took on their pages alleging that the mayor was driving under the influence of alcohol something that made him lose control and end up crashing into a swamp.
By the time of the fatal accident, the mayor was with one of his female councillors heading to one of the happening places in his town in wee hours of the night.
In WhatsApp group, a participant identified as Smart Majid shared and commented on the messages alleging that Mayor’s accident was due to alcoholism but was quick to again blame it on the state of roads in the municipality including the one that led the mayor into an accident.
This made the mayor go emotional and immediately called the Majid in a rude voice using obscene statements asking him to go and f*ck his mother 101 times in a week.
Further reports indicate that the mayor called a local Newspaper journalist, Eihwa Newspaper only identified as Yunusu and threatened to use his mayoral authority to make him miserable the whole of his life.
