The Prime Minister of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom Owek Andrew Byakutaga has this evening met the Speaker of the Uganda Parliament Rt. Hon Rebecca Kadaga.
The meeting which was held in the Speaker’s chambers was attended by Owek Philip Katahoire, the BKK Minister for External Relations and Owek Francis Mugerwa, the Special Assistant for Communications in the Prime Minister’s office.
They discussed on a wide range of issues including strategies of operationalising Bunyoro University, improving on cultural and historical promotion, addressing other pending Bunyoro demands as well as partnerships and cooperation.
The Speaker warmly welcomed the delegation and the deliberations.
Rt. Hon Kadaga is a descendant of Bunyoro. She is in around the 17th generation in the lineage of Omukama Wamara, one of the ancient Kings of Bunyoro.
It should be noted that Owek. Byakutaga underscores the importance of unity, teamwork and cooperation between Bunyoro Busoga and other kingdoms.
On several occasions advises cultural institutions to prioritize teaching cultural values to young people and initiating projects that improve on the welfare of the people.
Andrew assumed office in January 2018, replacing Owek. Norman Lukumu.Andrew is a Norwegian-trained petroleum geoscientist and a management specialist.
