Ddungu mike who says he has been a darling to the artist for a donkey’s years has disclosed that he has deleted OS Suna’s music from his laptop for suing and leading to the arrest of NBS TV presenters.
“I started following you when I was deep in Masaka. I loved your and played your songs like Joana but today, I have deleted all your songs from my laptop, jeep playlist and from my boutique PC, #freeKays,” 91.2 Crooze FM Mbarara, Radio King Ddungu Mike said.
NBS TV entertainment Journalists, Isaac Kawalya alias Kaiyz, Wakko Brian Kennedy and Makuluri William were earlier on Friday October 1st remanded to Kitalya prison on charges of offensive communication and criminal libel.
The trio had gone to report to police summons on Friday afternoon following legal redress by OS Suna accusing them of defamation against him in one of their Live On Air broadcasts.
They were instead arrested and arraigned before the Buganda Court later in the day which remanded them to Kitalya prison until October 15th.
About the offences.
At the start of September, Omulangira Suna through his lawyers Mr. Robert Lutaalo and Mr. Precious Nahabwe from Elgon Associated Advocates dragged the said Next Media Services journalists to court over defamation and character assassination.
According to Lutaalo, the Next Media journalists committed the offense on August 27th, 2021 during their Morning Express gossip show segment when they made defamatory remarks against their client, also singer, Os Suna.
The accused allegedly claimed that Os Suna is a witch doctor not the rightful owner of a storied building and a pine tree plantation that he recently showed off.
Os Suna, who appeared at a press conference with tears rolling down his face, vowed to teach the accused a lesson for making such baseless allegations against him.
UJA reacts to Next Media Journalists’ arrest.
The Uganda Journalists Association (UJA) has since issued a statement condemning acts of arrests against their colleagues.
According to UJA, it is OS Suna’s rights to seek legal redress however, they (UJA) say this right should not be used to gag the freedom of speech and expression by media actors.
“We are concerned that such acts pose a serious impact to the enjoymant of of the press freedom that are spelt out in the constitution,” UJA said in a press statement.
UJA said it is engaging the relevant authorities to ensure justice and freedom to the arrested journalists.
