CIU introduces 100 scholarships to enable students with tuition challenges acquire quality university education

Clerk International University (CIU) has announced one hundred scholarships for new students who will join the university for January – February intake this year.

Dr. Rose Clarke Nanyonga, the university Vice Chancellor says the scholarships will enable learners with financial difficulties to acquire affordable quality university education and relieve financial burden to parents.

“Today, we are here to announce a scholarship campaign for the school of business and applied technology,” said VC Dr. Rose Clarke Nanyonga.

She explained that the scholarships, 50 per cent offer, are open for all Ugandan nationals eligible for higher education at any university. The scholarship campaign targets learners applying for courses such as Masters of Business Administration (MBA), and other undergraduate programs in Business Administration, Accounting and Finance, Tourism Management, Procurement and Logistics, Applied Computing Technologies and Administration Health Management.

The scholarships according to the university are a project of the Clerk Group headed by the university Proprietor, Dr. Ian Clarke. The scholarship program, the university said is designed to make quality business education more accessible, aligning with the current industrialization trends and the increasing demand for competent business and ICT graduates.

“We believe in empowering the next generation of leaders and professionals. The scholarship program is a testament to our commitment to providing affordable and quality education in business and ICT,” said Prof.Rose Clarke Nanyonga, the Vice-Chancellor at CIU.

Journalists through their known professional bodies have also been allocated 10 slots to benefit from this study scholarship.

Evelyn Ayot, Academic Registrar said interested applicants should apply to CIU and other activation places such as Mbuya catholic church and other places which will be announced in the media.

When asked about considerations for marginalized groups such as Persons with Disabilities, Ayot noted that the university has plans to expand special offers for different groups emphasizing that the 100 announced scholarships will benefit all groups.

“The scholarships are open to all. When a need rises, we shall consider them. CIU is a flexible to extend scholarships to all groups,” she said urging the members of the public with students living with disabilities to recommend them to CIU to benefit from the bursary.

Speaking at the press conference on Thursday (January 18), Dr. Ian Clarke, the university proprietor said Ugandan businesses are languishing at the expense of foreign businesses noting that scholarships will enable business growth in the country.

“We have many Ugandans with businesses which cannot survive one generation and when they dies, business dies with them […] So, the reason we introduced this is because we want to be able to promote values that will help Ugandans on sales to build better businesses, values which we believe are important for everyday businesses,” he said.
