Police are searching for a driver who left the scene of a deadly crash involving a Toyota Premio car and a motorcycle on Wednesday evening in Kabale district.

The crash happened around 6p.m. at at Mukoma cell, Kaharo subcounty Kabale district, police reported.
Police said a Toyota Premio registration number UAD 807L collided with the motorcycle registration number UFL 441S, causing death of a 27-year-old motorcyclist.
The victim, identified as Abias Akampurira is a resident of Kahondo cell Maziba sub county Kabale district. He reportedly died on the spot.
Police said the motor vehicle driver was trying to overtake a trailer when he collided with a Boda Boda cyclist. He fled on the scene of the accident and a search to apprehend him is underway.
“The driver of the motor vehicle was driving from Kabale heading to Rukiga side, when he reached Mukatoma village he tried to overtake an unknown trailer and in the process he met the rider of the motorcycle who was coming from the side of Rukiga heading to Kabale with a passenger on board and knocked them, killing the rider on spot,” said ASP Elly Maate L, Kigezi region police spokesperson.

The 45-year-old passenger on a motorcycle, Ambrose Akantambira was also hospitalized in stable condition.
Police led by the OC traffic Kabale, ASP Mucunguzi Wilson visited the scene and taken the body to Kabale refferal hospital mortuary for postmortem. Both the motor vehicle and motorcycle involved in the accident were towed to Kabale police pending inspection.
