The Forum For Democratic party (FDC) has today unveiled Dr Alwoc RoseMary Ogwal, daughter to the late Cecilia Ogwal as their flag bearer in the Dokolo district Woman MP by-election.
This was after a series of closed door meetings with the family of Mzee Lameck Ogwal, husband to former Dokolo Woman MP Cecilia Ogwal on fielding Dr. Alwoc as FDC’s candidate to replace her late mother. Reports at Najjanankumbi revealed tensions that have been ongoing between the FDC and ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party to front Alwoc as their flag bearer.
Relief would later come after Dr. Alwoc accepted to run on FDC ticket in a high level meeting at Najjanankumbi earlier this week ending the long tension between the two parties seeking to buy her candidature.
She was unveiled by the FDC Chairman electoral Commission Hon. Boniface Toterebuka Bamwenda at the party headquarters. He handed to her the party flag, constitution and the strategic plan as instruments of power to confirm her endorsement.
While addressing the media shortly after her endorsement, Dr Alwoc RoseMary Vowed to carry on the legacy and the works of her late Mother who dedicated her life to serve the people of Dokolo district and promised to focus on only the mission of selfless service.
“Those of you who have seen my mother, you can her resemblance in my face and those of you who have heard my mother, yiu will hear in me that voice,” Dr. Alwoc said amidst ululations from the cheerful supporters.
“We may be mourning, but we are also working. If the people of Dokolo give me that mandate, the work that Imat began will continue in the betterment of Dokolo and for the betterment of Uganda,” she emphasized.
The party president Patrick Oboi Amuriat defined Dr Alwoc as a woman of value who is able to fit in the shoes of her mother and also clarified that the endorsement of Alwoc as the FDC candidate doesn’t mean political hereditary as claimed by some people.
“I know you’re now going to challenge us saying that are you not also getting to the NRM Museveni disease? If Rosemary was just and just a daughter of the late Hon. Cecilia Ogwal, probably she would not have qualified to have our flag but she is a woman of value somebody who definitely fits in the shoes of her departed mother. This morning I want to make a clarion call that the people of Lango and particularly the people to find in Dr. Alwoc a perfect replacement for her mother,” he said.
