BUSHENYI
A devastating fire has razed Kabagarame, a renowned weekly pork market in Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality, leaving vendors and customers in shock, local journalist, Bruno Mugizi reported.
The market, known for its bustling pork and local beer sales every Saturday, was burnt down by unidentified individuals in the late hours of Thursday evening. The cause of the fire is yet to be established.
Eyewitnesses report that the fire started around 10 pm, quickly spreading through most of the market stalls and engulfing everything in its path.
“Breaking News: Kabagarame ,a renowned weekly pork market in Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality, has been burnt down by a yet to be identified people,” Mugizi reported.
The market, which attracts hundreds of customers every week, is a vital source of income for many vendors. The fire has left them counting their losses.
By Press time, the police fire and rescue team had not arrived at the scene but locals were all efforts to extinguish the fire whose cause remains unknown.
Residents are calling for increased security measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
