The Makindye Ssabagabo member of Parliament Dr David Sserukenya has spoken openly about the terrible COVID-19 ordeal in his constituency.
“People are perishing like nothing. I take 10 bodies per day in my constituency,” Sserukenya said horribly.
He made remarks on Friday in a Facebook live video during 4th National Day of Prayer at parliament when he revealed that at least 10 COVID-19 patients die from his constituency.
‘Empologoma ya Ssabagabo emmu bweti’ as he is commonly referred to, donated over 9 Ambulance vehicles to improve on ambulance services in the constituency and Wakiso district but, he says the ambulances are currently not enough due to surge in COVID-19 cases.
“There are people who have been asking me about the Robadoba vehicles, some are working and others still in Garages because they are overworked yet there is limited for garage,” Sserukenya said adding:
“Sometimes we may transport you and we don’t immediately come back to pick you at the dropped place. Its because we have many other referrals to attend to and the ambulances are not enough. We are forced to return to you the next day.”
In his prayers, Sserukenya asked ugandans to repent and seek for God’s intervention in this pandemic.
“REPENT! People are dying like nothing,”
He further asked the constituents to pray for his health since he is at a risk of contracting the virus. This is because he is on the frontline team that transport and interact with COVID-19 patients.
‘Pray for me, am on the frontline that transports patients giving them referrals to Admissions like at Mulago.”
Furthermore, the legislator appealed to Ugandans to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines and save their lives from the virus.
President Museveni on Thursday declared Friday June 25, the 4th National Prayer Session for interdenomination prayers as the country battles a rise in corona infections. This was intended to seek God’s intervention in the COVID-19 pandemic.
